Pioneer Valley Hospice & Palliative Care volunteers are caring, committed people who want to make a difference, and they are a valued component of the care delivered to patients and their families coping with a life-limiting illness.
Our hospice programs and services rely on volunteers working together with our professional staff to provide compassionate care to those we serve. Pioneer Valley Hospice & Palliative Care volunteers are supported by a highly skilled group of nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, and other volunteers.
Our volunteers are thoroughly trained to provide support to our patients and families by listening, reading to the patient, playing cards, sharing similar interests, writing letters, or simply providing a comforting and supportive presence. Volunteers can also provide respite relief to caregivers who need a break.
We welcome volunteers aged 18 and over from all different backgrounds and interests.
